Data Methods Executive

Westgate, London

Role Description

The Data Methods team are responsible for understanding and optimising the processes used for collecting, processing and reporting our panel data.

Role Purpose

This role will have a balance between focusing on our new services and platforms, including those running in our Databricks platform, while also looking to understand our more mature services and how we can improve and transition those over to using more modern and optimised processes.

Candidates should be able to work relatively independently work on identifying areas for improvement, assessing what enhancements should be made and working with other teams to implement these changes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Day-to-day:

  • Able to act independently to investigate issues and starting to form views on how new processes ought to be constructed.
  • Co-ordinate work with Technology and Product teams
  • Able to contribute both to BAU enhancements and to work under the umbrella of a project

Understanding the wider business

  • Develops a broader understanding of the Operations functions
  • Develop an understanding of the Commercial usage of our data
  • Develop a broader understanding of our direct competitors

Training & Development

  • Take ownership for self-development and where available participate in structured training.
  • Gains proficiency in all relevant databases, data interrogation and reporting tools (for example Databricks, SQL, Python , Excel, MyWorldpanel etc.)
  • Start to contribute to the development of more junior members of the team

Communication & Collaboration

  • Continue to develop professional working relationships across the business (including Commercial) and externally. Particular focus on collaboration across TOPs.
  • Be able to communicate in an appropriate manner (e.g. verbally, presenting or creating a PowerPoint, Word document, email)
  • Adhering to deadlines and calling out where there is a risk of delays
  • Is able to demonstrate and role model best practise and techniques including positive communication style.
  • Displays a proactive attitude when working both within and outside of the team.
  • Demonstrates clear, direct and to the point communication at Data Methods team meetings

Issue Management and Best Practice

  • Proactive identification and root cause analysis of service issues, and resolution of these, to mitigate any impact to the quality of our data.
  • Support regular service review meetings with Team Managers and Leadership team to establish priorities and future requirements.
  • Working closely with other department partners (e.g. Client Delivery, Data Acquisition) to capacity plan and support new projects or service enhancement initiatives.
  • Knowledge sharing through the team, in either team meeting or day-to-day with the wider Data Methods team

Resource management

  • Organising your workload efficiently
  • Adhering to schedules
  • Contributing to resource planning for all BAU and projects
  • Start to build the skills necessary to be able to resource plan
  • Calling out any risks to deadlines and capacity challenges

Measures of Success

  • Actively manage their own workload to deliver all tasks and projects as requested by their manager to deadline
  • Autonomous in the tasks performed, beginning to define own workload
  • Demonstrate improvements that they have made to the service(s) that they work on.
  • All work is delivered to the quality standard expected
  • Escalation of issues where appropriate with evidence of root cause analysis and service knowledge being used to help drive the solution. Subsequent implementation of additional checks/change of processes where required.
  • All necessary knowledge and skills are acquired to perform in the role, including service knowledge, technical skills and personal skills
  • Is collaborative when seeking help and support from the relevant teams/individuals
  • Actively supporting junior members of the team
  • Appropriate and timely responses to all requests and can effectively say “no”
  • Adopt appropriate communication style internally and externally
  • Demonstrate appropriate business etiquette and ways of working (e.g. meetings, minutes, agendas)
  • Demonstrate growing rapport with partners in the service they work on, other members of the Operational team and any third-party suppliers.
